Telxius is created to bring together certain infrastructure assets of the Telefónica Group: 16,000 telecommunications towers in Germany, Spain, Brazil, Peru and Chile and 65,000 km of submarine fiber optic cable.

Telefónica reaches an agreement with KKR for the sale of up to 40% of Telxius. The deal implies an enterprise value of 3,678 million for Telxius and an equity value of 3,188 million euros. Telefónica keeps a majority stake and operational control of Telxius and continues to consolidate it into its accounts.
Telxius enters its sixth tower market with 304 towers in Argentina located in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires.

A new, next-generation Network Operations Center (NOC) starts operations in Lima, Peru, as one of the most advanced in the world. Its function is to monitor and manage Telxius' submarine cable network.
The Marea and Brusa subsea cable systems are open for business. Marea is a joint project between Telxius, Facebook and Microsoft that connects Virginia Beach (USA) and Sopelana (Spain). Brusa is the first ultra-high-capacity submarine cable that establishes a direct connection between Brazil and the United States (Virginia Beach) with the lowest latency.
Telefónica incorporates Pontegadea as a partner in Telxius. This transaction represents a clear increase in the share value of Telxius.

The Derio Communications Hub is launched, a carrier neutral infrastructure with high interconnection capacity, specially designed to leverage the capabilities of the submarine cables connected to it and extend them to the main communication hubs in Europe.
Telxius doubles its size in Brazil with the purchase of 1,909 sites and consolidates its position as one of the main neutral infrastructure operators in the country.

Collaboration agreement between Telxius and Orange on Dunant submarine cable in Europe and the U.S.
Telxius continues to enable communication during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown and ramps up the provision of capacity on its submarine cables compared to 2019.
Telxius doubles its size and consolidates its position as one of the main global neutral infrastructure operators, reaching 32,800 telecommunications sites after adding the 10,100 sites purchased and taking on the commitment to build 2,400 new BTS in Germany.

Telefónica sells Telxius' tower division to American Tower at record multiples for 7.7 billion euros. It is the second largest tower transaction in Europe to date and the highest multiple ever achieved for a tower portfolio at 30.5x OIBDAaL proforma.
Telxius leads the transatlantic subsea market with Dunant and Marea. Telxius' transatlantic proposition directly connects Ashburn, Richmond and Virginia Beach in the United States with Paris, Madrid and Derio (Bilbao) in Europe, providing direct access to areas with the largest concentration of data centers in the world and key connectivity hubs.
Tannat is open for business; a submarine cable that provides new diverse subsea capacity between Santos (Brazil) and Las Toninas (Argentina).
Telxius’ Mistral submarine cable is now ready for service; the first submarine cable since 2001 that directly connects Guatemala and Chile with an unprecedented capacity to boost communications in Latin America. This is a joint project with América Móvil.
Grace Hopper lands near Bilbao thanks to Telxius. This new system is connected to the services and infrastructures offered by the Derio Communications Hub.

Telefónica and Pontegadea acquire 100% of Telxius after buying the 40% stake held by KKR for 215, 7 million. With this operation, they now own 70% and 30% of Telxius, respectively.
Telxius and América Móvil announce the deployment of Tikal, a new high-capacity submarine cable to link Puerto Barrios (Guatemala) with Boca Raton (USA), with additional possible landings in Cancun (Mexico) and Barranquilla (Colombia). With an initial capacity of 190 Tbps, for Telxius, Tikal is the 7th new next generation cable to complete its network since 2018.
